With the new connector standard released, quite a few high-tech companies are forging ahead to provide fast chargers to the EV market. One of them is Efacec, with operations based in Norcross, Ga., and is ready to showcase its fast chargers.

Efacec USA, Inc. will showcase what it calls its latest electric mobility technologies and solutions for the North American market at the upcoming Charging Infrastructure Expo 2012.
This free electric vehicle (EV) charging exhibition and conference will be held in the Detroit suburb of Novi, Mich. from Nov. 13 to 15, 2012.

Efacec will be showcasing its QC50 and QC45 DC fast charging stations at the expo, highlighting the new SAE combo standard connector.

The company also said it will be showing the most recent developments in its Charger-to-Grid (C2G) implementation, which, according to the company, is designed to turn an impending burden on the grid into a benefit by increasing grid performance and efficiency through energy storage and smart grid applications.

Director for Efacec’s Business Development for Transportation in North America, Mario Santos, will make a presentation on November 15 at 11:30 am titled "EV DC Fast Charging: The Road Ahead."

Efacec said this presentation will address the lessons learned in deploying DC fast charging stations in the U.S., the challenges and opportunities offered by the new SAE Combo standard, and finally, an update on the Charger-to-Grid concept.

The company said it already has the largest number of DC fast chargers installed in the U.S. Twenty-six are installed in the Chicago, Ill., metro area, and one is at the Stanford Shopping Center in Palo Alto, Calif.

Its DC Fast Chargers are also operating in other international projects, including the Turkish Esarj Electric Mobility network; these DC Fast Chargers are also being used in the development of electric mobility solutions for Masdar City in Abu Dhabi.

Group Efacec said it has also received orders for fast chargers from Spain, England, the Netherlands, Brazil and the Republic of Georgia.

Efacec cosponsored the Alternative Fueled Vehicle Roadshow & Educational Tour held in Florida last month in which it showcased its QC50 DC electrical vehicle (EV) fast charger, which is now in use in a number of cities. Depending on the EV, it can recharge a battery to 80 percent in just 26 minutes.
