Kia Motors Collaborates with Antenna Magazine to Develop Customized Surf- and Skate-Themed Hatchbacks for the 2011 SEMA Show

Following the official launch of the all-new and completely redesigned 2012 Rio 5-door, Kia has once again teamed up with Antenna magazine for this year's SEMA Show to create a completely one-of-a-kind retro ride aimed at totally radical surfing enthusiasts.

As one of six sports-themed vehicles that Kia Motors will debut on November 1 at SEMA, Antenna took the all-new 2012 Rio 5-door and turned it into a surfer's dream, with a sunset-metallic golden-brown paint, front splitter made of wood to match an old school surfboard and striking gold wheels. The rear console of the Rio 5-door also has been completely modified to accommodate a retro gaming console that plays 80's-style arcade games and music, and shelves for sandals and swimsuits.

Just recently on sale in the U.S. this month, the all-new Rio 5-door is Kia's latest vehicle to enter the marketplace in the sub-compact category and features class-leading fuel economy at 30/40 miles per gallon (mpg) (city/highway) along with an optional Idle Stop-and-Go (ISG) system that shuts off the 1.6-liter engine when it comes to a stop: an industry first in the non-hybrid and non-luxury segments.

Kia will unveil the Antenna-built Rio 5-door, and five additional vehicles developed with high-profile partners, during its SEMA Show press conference onTuesday, November 1 at 9:30 a.m.
