Nissan reported it concluded its best August ever in Canada with sales of 8,192 units, an increase of 29.4 percent from the same month last year.
Interestingly, sales of the Leaf EV rose to 56 units, or an increase of 180 percent over August 2012. This places sales of the Leaf at 346 units since the beginning of the year, representing an increase of 42.2 percent over the same period last year.
With six consecutive months exceeding 8,000 units sold, Nissan Canada Inc. calendar year-to-date sales are its strongest to date.
Nissan Canada said its Nissan division sales totaled an August record of 7,279 deliveries, up 31.2 percent; the Infiniti division also set a monthly sales record with deliveries totaling 913 units, an increase of more than 17 percent over 2012.
“I am delighted to see that our commitment to provide new and exciting vehicles which are right for the Canadian market, is resonating with consumers,” said Christian Meunier, President, Nissan Canada Inc. “The new Nissan models continue to be in high demand and with the all-new Rogue arriving later this year, we expect this momentum to continue.”
Smaller vehicles contributed significantly to total sales. The Nissan Rogue was the strongest seller in the line-up with a 55 percent year-over-year increase and 1,610 units sold. Meanwhile, the all-new Versa Note contributed to Versa sales increasing 78 percent over last year with 1,527 units sold.
