Toyota Corolla Hybrid Launched Today In Japan

As part of Toyota’s plan to introduce 17 hybrid models in its home market by the end of 2015, the automaker began sales today of a hybrid version on the popular Corolla nameplate.
The Corolla Axio abd Corolla Fielder will see hybridized versions selling at prices starting at $19,670 (1.925 million yen), and 2.085 millio0n yen respectively.
Fuel economy ratings for both variants are 33 kilometers per liter according to the liberal Japanese test cycle. This exceeds the gasoline versions of the same-ma,e cars of 21.2 for the Fielder and 21.4 for the Axio.
Sales for the new models are projected by Toyota at 2,500 units per month. They will be built at Toyota’s assembly plant in Miyagi prefecture.
No plans were announced for bringing a Corolla hybrid to the U.S.
